£854.02
I asked DSIT to take accountability for the discrimination and mistreatment I faced. Three days later, they hounded me with a "debt".
**For the avoidance of doubt: I am not suicidal. I am young, in excellent physical and mental health, in full possession of my mental faculties and am looking forward to building a free, full life. Any sudden deterioration, unexplained harm to my person, my wellbeing or any unexplained interference with my communication must be treated with the highest suspicion.**
Today, I’m publishing evidence of the “debt” DSIT claimed I owed them. DSIT issued me this “debt” almost immediately after I asked them to take accountability for the discrimination I faced whilst working in CAIRF.
I’ll include an excerpt from the email chain between myself and Emran Mian that immediately resulted in the “debt” notice.
For context, I first reached out to Emran on 6th February 2025. I ceased email communication with him on 28th March 2025. The email chain between us contains almost 30 emails.
I’ll dedicate a stand-alone piece detailing how HM Government responded when I disputed the “debt”.
Here we go.
On Sunday 16th March, 17:19 JST, I wrote this to Emran:
“Hi Emran,
To clarify, is DSIT taking the position that it has no intention of addressing the serious harm I experienced due to discrimination and mistreatment?
It’s clear I was in a catch-22: speaking up whilst in the role would have led to further mistreatment and sidelining, as is abundantly clear from previous cases similar to mine. When I raised concerns upon my resignation with Dean and [REDACTED], the joint heads of CAIRF, they ignored my email - hence why I escalated to you.
Putting the responsibility onto me for not for not speaking up sooner is deeply disrespectful and ignores the real issue here - I would not have been put in this position if CAIRF had leadership that was professional and treats all employees with respect.
Where does DSIT stand on all of this? I need a clear and direct response. Silence, delays or deflection will only reinforce the pattern of negligence.
Emran responds with……silence.
I follow up with Emran on Monday 17th March at 22:09 JST.
Emran responds with……even more silence.
And then, on Wednesday 19th March 23:30 JST, I receive this:

DSIT has an annual budget worth billions. For the year 2025/26, DSIT has allocated £13.9 billion to R&D alone.
Yet DSIT chose this specific moment, right after I asked them to take accountability for the discrimination I faced, to a chase a young woman for £854.02. To claim I owed them a debt. They gave me just fourteen days to pay it.
For context and clarity, I’ve received slight salary overpayments from government departments I’ve worked in before. I have never received such a demand telling me I owe the Government a “debt”.
This is what petty institutional cruelty disguised as bureaucracy looks like.
This is how institutions punish those who ask for dignity: with “admin” designed to pressure and humiliate.
See you tomorrow.
